Heart Affairs

Already ahead of its time at its premiere in 1999, the nucleus of 'Heart Affairs' transforms into a unique concert performance, blending contemporary scenography, expanded musical composition, and the synergy of modern technical possibilities. This bridges the gap between Estonian contemporary music and experimental electronic music.

Does the heart creak when it breaks? Sometimes the heart gets full - was it empty before? Why can't we force the heart?

ULM builds on Lepo Sumera's clinical-musical approach - capturing beats and murmurs from the author's own heart with an echocardiograph - and complements it with the theatrically inherent pathos, analyzing on stage those matters of the heart that doctors do not see.

Certainly, more questions arise during the performance than answers. In this sense, it's safer to visit a doctor than a theater. But theater, in the right dose, can only do good for the heart and the things hidden within.
